STRATEGIES FOR ACHIEVING TARGETS: The Cocoa Value Chain is employing the MREstrategy (maintenance,
rehabilitation, expansion) including other various strategies
to realize this objective.
Growth Enhancement Support (GES) -
Cocoa is under special GES in which the following agricultural inputs are distributed to farmers at 50% subsidy.

Project Areas
The Value Chain operates in 16 States which are: Ondo, Cross-River,
Osun, Ogun, Oyo, Abia, Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Edo, Delta, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, Kwara,
Rivers and Taraba.

Progress
The distribution commenced in 2012 and
over 1.2 million pods were distributed to cocoa farmers free of charge between
2012 – 2013.
The 2014 distribution commenced in September,
2014 and over 500,000 pods have been distributed by these agencies to date. The
distribution is on-going.
The distribution of polythene bags is
yet to commence as procurement is still on-going.
